travel advice

I haven’t posted much about my upcoming trip. –that’s true. Mainly, since I tried to focus on my university work as much as I could. I didn’t want to let myself be distracted by the thoughts of my upcoming adventure- sometimes with more and sometimes with less success. I tried to keep trip preparation time to the minimum. But secondly it would have been very difficult to keep this blog up to date with the amount of changes that are happening almost on a daily basis…. My trip has changed so many times that I almost keep loosing track myself ;-)

The only thing that is (more or less) set yet, is that I’m leaving on the 27th March. I hope I manage to get my thesis finished by then. I really don’t want to rely on Plan B. More news will follow after my exams (after Thursday).

As my exact route is still in the process of being created, I was actually wondering if you could give me some travel advice. I’m reading travel guides as well as forums on the internet, but first hand experiences are always a much better source! If you have any place or activity you can suggest in any of these following countries I’d be very curious to know more: Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and South China. Among the many things I like are trekking, diving, nature in general and any cultural related stuff...

Yeah, regarding SE Asia and China you can drop me an email at devrim[at]nomadlife.org and I'll give you some suggestions.

Let me know how much time do you have and what your budget is.

Hi Caro,

Some ( out of so many :p ) suggestions for Indonesia:

-.Yogyakarta (Central of Java): It's the center of classical javanese arts and culture.

-.Borobudur and Prambanan Temples (in Magelang, around an hour by car from Yogyakarta)

-.Mount Bromo (East of Java)

-.Bali

-.Bunaken (North of Sulawesi): The place where you can dive, dive...and dive again :)
It’s one of the best place to dive in the world.

-. Don't stay too long in Jakarta if you're going there. It's just a typical BIG and busy capital city.

Hope you enjoy your trip..looking forward to hear your story :)))

with smile,
ali

Let me know which regions you plan to see in Thailand and i'll ask my Thai friends for some recommendations. Once our transition agenda is finalised i can try to find 2-3 days to travel with you.

Hugs
Rob
p.s. i signed up for a salsa class, 2hrs for 5weeks :)
