3 weeks into my internship

How time passes quickly: today my 3rd week of my internship ended- 3 more to go as it looks right now...
Actually almost every day I'm thinking: I want update this blog of mine, but when I get home in the evening the only thing I'm usually able to do, is quickly check my emails, crash onto my bed and fall asleep over a book.

I really like my internship: it is challenging, I'm learning heaps on a professional basis and my boss leaves me a lot of space to bring in my own ideas. Although at points he thinks I'm aiming too high, I want to change too many things at the same time etc- some of you may recognize patterns :-)

I think I mentioned it before: I'm working for the employee heath management department. The job is very interesting, as I need to propose (not decide) a health promotion concept for the whole company (17'000 employees) as well as an evaluation system for it etc.
What I enjoy most is that first of all there is a lot of strategic and conceptional thinking required, plus I get insights into many areas of the company as health promotion is linked to many other HR related processes. And finally there I also get to meet and speak to many people in the company, something I also enjoy very much - I think some people think I talk too much! :-)

Before I continue with the 2nd half of my internship I'm off to Denmark to chair SCALDS during the next 2 weeks. As it looks this will be my final BIG thing in AIESEC (I'm still inclined to do some more small stuff if something comes up). Tomorrow I want to spend a few hours getting into the mood for it, as I haven't really had the time to mentally prepare.

my summer plans

I feel so relieved and relaxed right now: exams are over! At the same time I feel exhausted and excited: the former because it was a tough sememster and a tough year, the latter because I'm gonna start an internship on Monday at the "Schweizerische Post"! I will be working in the HR department, on health management issues. From what I know until now, it has the potential to be a very interesting job! We will see...:-)

My original plan for summer was to enjoy some free time, go to visit different family members and then start to write my bachelor thesis. Now that I got that internship for 8 weeks, which was totally unplanned -I just ran into the ad by chance- it all looks a bit different.

Again, the only thing is, that my summer won't be as relaxing as initially planned, as I managed to somehow come up with many things that I want to do...

10th July: start my internship
14th July: Gurten Festival:James Blunt!
15th-17th: Rotterdam transition party
19th July: Paleo Festival with Jo! Ben Harper is also coming...
23rd/24th: Eggä (going to a hut for a weekends with friends)
1st-3rd August: Kopenhagen with Judith
4th-12th August: Chairing SCALDS- yeah! :-)
Mid September: 1 week in Austria
End September-October: studying for my exams in October

Looks like an exciting time ahead! :-)

two down - two to go

just a small sign of life from my side, for those of you who might have thought I have vanished from the surface of this earth ;-)

reason for my silence is the fact that I'm concentrating on my exams right now, (or lets be honest and say I at least TRY VERY HARD), and thus my days are spent either on the library or on the balcony: studying.

I had two exams on Monday: statitics (gosh I'm SO glad that's over now!) and European integration (how can a professor be so obsessed with details?!)

This afternoon I have some accounting thing (Bilanzierung) and then tomorrow maths. It will be a loooong night, as for that one I basically haven't done anything yet.
Wish me luck and success!
