days like today...

Today is again one of these days where you don't actually know what you got up for in the morning: it's raining and cold outside and what is worse, you sit at your desk at work and you just stare at the computer screen, feeling like not doing anything, feeling somehow brain dead. So I keep surfing the internet, reading blogs and hoping that this day goes over fast and that tomorrow is better!

The only good thing that happened today was going for lunch with Sybille and Sabine, two old school friends of mine.

welcome to the world lovely little Lily :-)

Isn't she a cutie? That's Lily Caitlin, the new born daughter of my older host brother Brent and his wife Allison. That makes me her aunty- or lets say almost- at least I feel like one :-)
Welcome to our world, my little girl!
So much looking forward to meeting you in Australia in May next year!

after ScaLDS

A little more than one week ago I returned from Denmark with plenty of wonderful memories!

The first few days I was discovering Kopenhagen by bike together with Judith: including Nyhavn, the canals, Carlsberg brewery, Christinia, "THE shopping centre", the crown juwels etc..

There are three things I will remember Denmark for:
1. never have I seen before such a sophisticated kind of infrastructure for bikes! It's a bicycle paradise so to say!

2. never have I seen so many hot dog stands within one square kilometer as there are in Kopenhagen! I guess "hot dog" must be the national dish!

3. never have I seen so many pregnant women in one city! I guess Denmark must be one of the few countries in Europe that doesn't face any issues by a declining birth rate, if you base your assumption on the amount of pregnant women and young mothers with kids strolling in the streets of Kopenhagen ;-)

After the explore Kopenhagen part, it was time for me to focus on that one thing I was actually coming to Denmark for: chairing ScaLDS!
Although it took me a long time during pre-meeting to really get into the conference mode and mood, which was a cause of worry to me at some point, it turned out to be one of my best AIESEC conferences!! The faci team was just AMAZING, the OC provided us with the best food I EVER had at an AIESEC conference and also the delegates were setting the bar very high when it came to being responsible on one hand, but also to being both active learners and networkers on the other! Thank you so much everybody for this experience!

Before that conference I always thought to myself, that somehow I was glad that I wasn't going to IC - now ScaLDS has changed my opinion by 180 degrees!!! I so much would love to attend IC, in order to connect with people again, to feel the energy, to be a part of AIESEC! - But I guess it is time to let go, I need to close a chapter in my life that is called "being an active AIESECer" - that's what my reason tells me. The only trouble with that is, that my heart tells me something different!
